Artist's Description
Produced as a demo for a now cancelled artist retreat, this piece was done using gouache as a resist for the India Ink wash which covered the entire piece. The gouache was washed off revealing the vibrant colours protected by the thick gouache resist.
About Ruth Kamenev
I paint in watercolours for the most part, but enjoy trying new things like batik, acrylics and alcohol inks, gravitating toward the natural world for my subject matter. I enjoy painting landscapes and still life but find that birds, animals and people, with their winning ways, inspire my work. I have decided to share this page with my muse, my inspiration - my mother, who painted in oils beginning in her 50�s, who found her passion and passed it to me long before she herself passed.
